Part 4 - Removing Flowers from the Press
Now for the exciting part; opening up your press and seeing how the flowers look now that they are fully dry.
You Will Need:
- A press with flowers that are at least a week old
- Mount board
- Masking tape
- Scissors
Flowers Used:
- Forget-me-not
- Butterfly Ranunculus
Removing Flowers
Step 1: Unscrew the wingnuts on your flower press, and remove the top board.
Step 2: Remove the card and put it to one side. Gently peel back the absorbent paper, making sure the flower beneath isn't being damaged as you do so. Put the absorbent paper to one side too.
Step 3: Carefully tease the flower of the paper - some parts may be stuck, just go slowly and delicately. You may have also pressed parts of the flower separately, and these can also be carefully removed.
Step 4: A flower is ready if it feels papery to the touch and completely dry. If this is the case, place it onto a mount board and secure it with a tiny piece of masking tape ready to be stored and archived.
