A great garden image needs timing, light, and an understanding of the natural world. In this course, award-winning photographer Jason Ingram takes you behind the lens, breaking down the technical side of photography into simple, practical steps that actually make sense. Filmed in some of England’s most beautiful gardens, Jason teaches you how to understand exposure, master composition, and capture the atmosphere of a landscape, whether at sunrise or sunset. You'll learn how to plan your shots, previsualise compositions, and use the best tools and apps for tracking light and weather.

I think photography is a great way to bring two things together that you really enjoy: your garden, nature, walking through the hills or woodland, having that time and having that connection - to create an image that is of that instant moment.

27 LESSONs / 5 HOURs
Meet Jason - five times Garden Photographer of the Year and one of the leading landscape and garden photographers working today. In this first lesson he takes you through the course, explaining some of the fundamentals of garden and landscape photography and describing how taking this type of pictures will allow you to connect with nature and the world around you, no matter what stage you’re at.
Jason points you towards some of the great photographers he has drawn inspiration from, as well as explaining his own journey towards the medium.
You'll learn how to read and control natural light in gardens, master the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed and ISO), and pre-visualise images before you press the shutter. Jason also covers reccying locations, planning shoots around sunrise and sunset, using neutral-density graduated filters, shooting low-key floral still life at home, and post-processing and backing up your files in Lightroom. Throughout the course you'll build a complete garden narrative, from wide establishing shots and mid-range views to plant portraits and intimate details.
