Materiality
Exterior Materials
For the exterior of my home, I wanted materials that would blend harmoniously with the woodland setting.
I chose Shou Sugi Ban cladding for its durability and low maintenance. The charred wood's dark colour creates a striking contrast against the greenery, making the house feel like a natural part of the landscape.
Mirroring the Indoor Materials
I used polished concrete tiles for the outdoor kitchen to furthur mirror the interior and light-toned composite decking for functional outdoor living. The result is a cohesive design that flows seamlessly from inside to outside.
