Other Considerations
As a florist for any large event or wedding, your plans and designs also feed into the remit of a wider team, so it's vital to establish good working relationships from the very start. I'll also be sharing some tips on how to make your budget go further.
Working in a Team
Planning any wedding or event requires lots of decision-making and a huge team of people, each with their own responsibilities.
While the hiring of the marquee, furniture and crockery isn't the job of a florist, these elements are often instrumental to your design. Make sure to ask questions early on about important things such as the size and shapes of tables, as well as the marquee or tent fabric. Your input and opinion may also be asked for on the finer details such as plates and tablecloths too.
Making a Budget Stretch Further
- Look in charity shops for glass vases and bottles.
- Save old jam jars, which can then be tied with ribbon for a pretty table posey. I like to include around 15-20 stems for a jam jar posey, and the height of the arrangement should be 1.5 x the height of the jar.
- Forage for foliage; Cow Parsley is abundant in May and June, just remember to sear it first.
- Ask friends and family with an interest in gardening to help grow your flowers.
