To finish the project, Willow shows you how to introduce flowers into the display. She also offers ideas of varieties that work well at different times of the year.
With a solid foundation of greenery, it's time to introduce some beautiful flowers for colour and interest.
I would advise starting with your largest flowers first; those with both the largest heads and thickest stems. You need to fit everything within the cones and vials, so it's good to get the thick stems in now and slot in the thinner, dainty stems later on.
As you continue to add flowers, be mindful of what you have left and be strategic about placement to not only make the most of your most show-stopping varieties but also ensure you have enough to cover the arch evenly.
Try to angle the flowers in different directions to give the feeling of depth. As the arch gets fuller, it can become difficult to find the cones and vials, but it's essential you get the stems in water to make sure the display lasts.
As you are nearing the end, add your daintiest stems in at the very last minute. You can add in additional small vials to contain these.
Once your flower arch is complete, remember to keep topping up the cones, vials and buckets with water to keep the display looking its best. I would recommend checking the water levels every four hours, especially in warm weather.
