The Bedroom

The scheme for my bedroom needed to be in conversation with the bathroom, yet not competing with it.

• The mirrored bed frame subtly enters this room into a dialogue with the mirrored bathroom, without being too overtly 'matchy'.
• The palette is pale blue and soft grey, which provides a restful feeling as well as acting as a foil to the deep raspberry red of the living room.
• Architecturally this isn't a period room, but including lots of antique objects turns the space into a stylish pastiche. My advice is to source things you love from across the decades, and combine them to create a look that's unique to you.
• When faced with smaller rooms, lean into the intimacy and comfort by having everything you need close by – speakers by the bed make listening to music or watching television even more cosy.
• I found the chest of drawers in a junk shop, and gave it a new lease of life by ebonising the wood.
• A bedroom is a personal space, so surround yourself with things you want to look at every day, even if they may not work perfectly as part of the scheme you intended.
