Take a look at one of the guest bedrooms I've prepared to see how it all comes together.
- Decorating a guest bedroom needn't be expensive – look out for second-hand furniture that can act as occasional storage. You can paint a piece to make it work better in your scheme.
- The bed is really the main story in any guest bedroom, and I like to emphasise this with a canopy. You can make your own with the help of a carpenter and an upholsterer.
- I think that quality bed linens are critical, and they're an area where it's worth spending a bit more money.
The Composition of a Bed:
- A white cotton valance around the base of the bed
- A good-quality mattress
- A mattress topper
- Percale sheets
- A cotton thermal blanket
- Diamond piqué bedcovers
- A duvet in percale sheet at the foot of the bed
- Plenty of pillows and cushions
- European square cushions at the back

Born and raised in Palm Beach, Florida, Amanda’s childhood instilled in her a love of coastal living.
