Gabby demonstrates how to display objects you already own on your dresser and how to add personality to even the smallest spaces in your home.
Discover the art of displaying objects in a dresser, and adding character to your home.
I really wanted a big piece of furniture for this room. I really wanted to introduce the idea of a dresser. They are so practical for kitchens. What I like about the shelves is that they offer a really lovely place to create displays especially if you are someone who loves to collect a lot of things.
I bought Japanese wrapping paper and used it to line the back of the display case. No matter how busy it gets in the display case you can shut the doors and it feels like the chaos is contained.
If you've got a pair of something, it makes sense to use them in an obviously symmetrical way. Keep looking at the things, the difference in materials, and the various heights of things. Have you got nice combinations of tone, colour, and material?
Simply put, do you like it? Is it pleasing to you? You need to be careful in your arranging, so that the various items don't knock each other over. It's worth using plate stands; they have a pleasing angle and make things less likely to slip and crash. As with everything, remember it's not permanent and is ever-changing. You can go back in, and you can take things out.
There is something about glass in cupboards that catches the light so beautifully. Play with scale and colour and think about things that work well together. Introducing an element like a dresser into an interior makes a space feel layered and lived in. It will make it feel so much like your space. It will tell the story of you, what you like and who you are.

Gabby started her career at House & Garden shortly after, honing her personal taste and quickly becoming known as a driving force within the magazine for bringing high-end interior design to a wider audience, championing practical, achievable and beautiful styling.
