Paint and Fabric Sources

  1. Caddie by Paint & Paper Library
  2. Rose Cummings from Dessin Fornir
  3. JP-6420 by Jasper Devonshire in the Blue/Green colourway
  4. Bellevue by Manual Canovas in Emeraude
  5. Underground Olive by Dominique Kieffer

Paints are quite straightforward. You can get paint samples from Homebase or B&Q, Farrow & Ball, and Little Greene both online and in store. I recommend brushing them out on bits of paper to get a sense of which colours you like together. Most fabric companies' websites allow you to order fabric directly. A larger piece of fabric is referred to as a returnable.

Experiment to Find What You Love

Experimenting with putting things together and trying to work out what you like is really important. You already know you like a certain paint colour, so the next stage is finding fabrics that work with that colour to create a cohesive scheme.

Pulling in a fabric that incorporates the colours of existing furniture pulls a space together, really waking up something else in the room that was dormant.

One of the UK’s leading figures on all things interiors, Gabby Deeming has spent the past 15 years pulling together beautiful schemes as Creative Director of Decoration at House & Garden. Her route into styling began in her early 20s, when Gabby fell in love with textiles, print and colour after being exposed to fresh and exciting interiors during a year living abroad in France. Gabby started her career at House & Garden shortly after, honing her personal taste and quickly becoming known as a driving force within the magazine for bringing high-end interior design to a wider audience, championing practical, achievable and beautiful styling. In 2017, after taking a short sabbatical in India, Gabby followed her passion for patterned textiles to launch Daydress - an ethically-minded fashion line celebrating block printed fabrics.
