Also a basement room, I wanted my guest bedroom to still feel light and airy despite the lack of natural light or view out the window.

• I opted for the wallcovering and curtain to be in the same print, so they blend together for a calm and subtle look.
• Despite the lack of view, I still wanted to create a vista of sorts to draw your eye out. I painted the wall outside a soft green to match the rest of the colour scheme, and added some greenery for a natural touch.
• When a guest comes to stay, you want them to feel relaxed and comfortable. Invest in a good-quality bed, and opt for high-thread-count bed linen.
• Adding a tester to the bed helps to give a feeling of grandeur and luxury.
• Make sure to include plenty of storage space for your guest(s) to use, and provide hangers.
• I enjoy adding little welcoming touches when I have guests: books to read, fresh flowers, a biscuit or fruit, and a carafe of water.
