Another area in the home where good task lighting is particularly important is the bathroom.
Top Tips
- I would always recommend using two decorative wall lights with very diffuse light on either side of a mirror to provide quality task lighting for getting ready, applying makeup or shaving. They should stand proud from the mirror in order to cast a substantial glow.
- Another option for task lighting in a bathroom is to offset the mirror away from the wall and insert lighting behind it.
- A focused use of downlighting can accent the vanity unit and bath, making their finishes sparkle.
- There are a few ways to light textured tiles. An even wall wash will provide a clean glow and a well-lit space. Alternatively, you could position the downlights closer to the tiles to cast shadow and create a more dramatic effect. For a spa-like feel, gentle uplights at a low level pick up the texture in a much softer way.
