If you've ever walked into a room where the light feels dull, lifeless and uncomfortable - this is probably due to poor colour rendition and ill-considered colour temperature of an LED light. Find out what to look for when choosing light sources.
If you've ever walked into a room where the light feels dull, lifeless and uncomfortable - this is probably due to poor colour rendition and ill-considered colour temperature of an LED light.
In most scenarios, it's best to have a warm light for the welcoming and comforting atmosphere it creates. Ideally, you want the colour temperature to read between 2400k and 2700k.
This measures how closely the LED resembles natural light, and how accurately it illuminates the true colour of an object.
Natural light is deemed 100 on the index, and you want to aim for your LED reading to be into the 90s for an attractive and flattering light.
The higher the colour rendition, the better the materials and colours will look within your room.
LEDs with a high colour rendition do come at a premium and you can expect to pay more for a reading into the high 90s, but it's worth it for the quality of light they produce.
