Top Tips
- Task lighting is particularly key in a kitchen, as any good preparation areas will need to be well-lit.
- Small under-cupboard downlights work brilliantly to clearly illuminate the countertop, and you can use 'eyelids' or a small downstand to conceal the light source.
- The material of your fittings can affect the light they provide; silver offers a clean light whereas bronze will give a warmer glow.
- Strip lighting under a kitchen island counter provides soft ambient light and a low level.
- I would recommend installing dimmers in a kitchen, especially if it's in an open-plan space, as this will enable you to create different moods at different times of the day.
