First impressions count, so it's well worth investing some time and thought into how you want to light the front of your house to create a welcoming atmosphere.
The Facade
- A soft wash from uplighters across the facade of your home makes for a warm welcome and can be complemented with candles in lanterns on the doorstep.
- In a city, your home is likely well-lit from street lighting, but in the countryside, it becomes even more important to consider how you want to light the outside of your home.
- If you are lighting the facade of your home in the countryside, you need to be mindful of the 'dark skies' and use low output sources, as well as try to direct the light downwards.
- If you're in a more urban setting, you may wish to make more of the architectural features such as steps or any planting on the approach.
