Do I need gardening experience to take this indoor gardening course?

No experience is needed at all — James specifically reassures beginners that horticulture isn't the intimidating world of Latin names and rigid rules it appears to be. He starts with the simplest possible project, a low-maintenance cacti and succulent window box, and builds up to more complex arrangements as the course progresses. If you can hold a glass of water and a pair of scissors, you already have everything required for his plant propagation lessons.

Will this course teach me how to stop killing my houseplants?

Yes — James tackles the number one reason houseplants fail, which isn't watering but light. He explains how light levels halve every metre you move away from a window, how to use a free light meter app on your phone, which plants suit south, east, west and north-facing rooms, and how affordable LED grow lamps let you grow plants anywhere in your home. He also recommends genuinely 'unkillable' plants like aspidistra, ZZ plant and sansevieria for the darkest corners.
