Exporting

After you're finished with all the processing you want to do to your image, you can then export it to your computer's desktop.

Before I export the file, I like to review the image for a final time using the 'Lights out' function by pressing 'L' on the computer keyboard, and 'F' on full screen.

When you've completed your final checks, click on 'Library' mode at the top right-hand side, and then on the bottom left-hand side click on the 'Export' button. This will bring up a menu of options.

There are a vast number of file types to choose from when it comes to exporting an image, depending on the circumstance and usage. I've listed some general recommendations below for two common scenarios.

High-resolution printing for a book or prints

  • Image format: JPEG
  • Quality: 100%
  • Colour space: Adobe RGB 1998
  • Resize image to fit: Deselected
  • Resolution: 300dpi

Low resolution for sharing digitally and uploading to a website

  • Image format: JPEG
  • Quality: 80%
  • Colour space: sRGB
  • Resize image to fit: Selected. Width and height: W 1,452; H 1,452
  • Resolution: 72dpi

Once you've selected the file type and settings, you can click on the 'Direct' button to choose where you want to save it on your computer. Finally, click 'Export'.
