No formal qualifications are required — Alex herself retrained at 32 and started her studio with no clients and no portfolio, so she teaches from a beginner-friendly starting point. Yes — the entire course is built around real-life work from the Alex Dauley studio. You'll go behind the scenes on her WOW!house media room at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, a completely unconstrained creative brief, and follow a 1930s London townhouse renovation in Wimbledon from concept to completion, including floor plan iterations, a loft conversion and broken-plan layouts. Seeing actual client documents, plans and 3D renders alongside the finished spaces makes the process tangible rather than theoretical.

Absolutely — a large part of the course focuses on the professional side of interior design that's often overlooked. Alex shares her multi-page client questionnaire, how to translate answers into a written design brief and room checklists, how to manage client expectations when budgets rise and timelines slip, and how to collaborate respectfully with architects, contractors, project managers and suppliers. These are the systems that keep projects on track and clients confident at every stage.

Rather than focusing purely on aesthetics, Alex teaches that every great space begins with a strong narrative — the history of the building, the client's lifestyle and the emotion they want to feel in the room. You'll see exactly how that narrative shapes colour palettes, materials, layouts and even architectural decisions, using genuine studio documents and a rare look inside a WOW!house designer's creative process. It's a methodical approach that actually creates more space for creativity, not less.
