Designing Your Cut Flower Bed: Planning the Patch for Season Five
Season Five: Mid-November to Mid-March
There's not a huge amount to pick during these months, but there is Polyanthus 'Stella Champagne', which is a permanent perennial and has been in the ground here for five years.
The dahlias may last longer but it depends on how wet the weather gets.
Another trick to extend the amount of flowers you get in season five is to use a greenhouse space. Here, I grow lots of Narcissus 'Paperwhites', which help me to extend the season and give me some plants to grow throughout the winter months.
Our Season Five Plants Are:
- Polyanthus 'Stella Champagne'
- Nicandra seed heads
- Dahlias
- Panicum 'Frosted Explosion'
- Narcissus 'Paperwhites'
- Hyacinths
- Grape hyacinths
- Freesias
