How to Create Forever Flowers

No prior experience is needed — this course is designed for complete beginners as well as those who already love flowers. Bex starts with the easiest flowers to dry, such as everlastings like Helichrysum (strawflower), statice and winged everlastings, which are simple to grow from seed and hold their colour beautifully. She also shares fresh-versus-dried comparisons so you know exactly what a successfully dried stem should look like.

Bex dedicates lessons to exactly this, walking you through the flowers that dry brilliantly — everlastings such as Helichrysum, statice, winged everlastings, Lonas and amaranth — as well as the ones that don't work so well. She shows fresh and dried examples side by side so you can see how colour, structure and stems change during the drying process. You'll also learn the best time in a plant's life to cut each stem so it dries with maximum colour and shape.

You'll create a range of displays, starting with simple single-stem arrangements in beautiful vessels and colourful mixed vase displays, right through to a large hanging floral installation. Bex also shares techniques for bud vase table settings, flower strings and mobiles, plus how to use every last broken stem so nothing goes to waste. Because dried flowers need no water and weigh almost nothing, you can create wall and hanging installations at home with very little equipment — often just a reel of string.

Bex grows and dries almost all of her own flowers at her studio in Devon, so she teaches the complete cycle from seed to seedling to finished dried arrangement — something most floristry courses don't cover. The course has a strong sustainability focus, showing you how to achieve gorgeous whites and vivid colours naturally rather than using bleached, dyed or chemically preserved stems, and how to source responsibly from UK growers. Her approach is contemporary and design-led, treating dried flowers as interior decoration that lasts for years rather than a dated replacement for fresh blooms.
