Top Tips for Hanging Artwork

  1. Bring your pictures down low - you want the middle to be level with the middle of your eyeline when you are standing - roughly 5ft 5 inches.
  1. When hanging pictures above sofas or chairs bring them lower, 30cm above the sofa.
  1. When hanging multiple pictures, you should consider the views.
  1. Avoid your pictures being in a straight line. To create a sense of interest, hang them slightly lower than windows or doors.
  1. Hang small pictures low and off-centre.
  1. Play around with frames and smaller pictures with linked colours.
  1. As far as creating a gallery wall, Kate starts in the middle and then works her way outwards.
  1. Play with different combinations on the floor when planning gallery walls, and see what works with what.
  1. Gallery walls can appear crowded in a small space.
