Top Tips for Hanging Artwork
- Bring your pictures down low - you want the middle to be level with the middle of your eyeline when you are standing - roughly 5ft 5 inches.
- When hanging pictures above sofas or chairs bring them lower, 30cm above the sofa.
- When hanging multiple pictures, you should consider the views.
- Avoid your pictures being in a straight line. To create a sense of interest, hang them slightly lower than windows or doors.
- Hang small pictures low and off-centre.
- Play around with frames and smaller pictures with linked colours.
- As far as creating a gallery wall, Kate starts in the middle and then works her way outwards.
- Play with different combinations on the floor when planning gallery walls, and see what works with what.
- Gallery walls can appear crowded in a small space.
