For the second stage of her four-step process, all of the information and knowledge gathered in the research stage is then translated into a detailed design brief - and Alex shows you how.
For the second stage of my 4-step process, all of the information and knowledge gathered in the research stage is then translated into a detailed design brief.
The design brief documents every single aspect of the project.
Each space is given a written narrative that details how the design is being approached in terms of look, feel, mood and practicality. There is also a comprehensive list included that contains every element that needs to be sourced and every requirement that needs to be factored in.
I also like to include a word cloud, which incorporates all of the key words of the project. These words become apparent through your research and conversations with the client.
It's important to be aware that just like so much of the design process, this brief can be ever evolving. The client may change their mind on certain aspects, or the budget may need to be adjusted. The mark of a good designer is being able to adjust, pivot and react in an agile, considered manner.
Here is the link to the design brief I show you in the lesson.
