Project 2 - A Concept Room at WOW!house

Materials & Fabrics

Join me as I moodboard all of the materials that I considered and eventually used in my WOW!house space.

• Rich, warm and earthy tones were the starting point for the project, and the first decision we made was a burgundy lacquered wall. Due to time constraints, we couldn't install 'true' lacquer as it involved too much drying time, so instead we used a lacquered wallcovering.
• Next I chose a beautiful velvet for the custom curved sofa.
• For some juxtaposition, we decided to cover the rest of the walls and ceiling in a light coloured suede.
• Stained oak flooring helps to solidify the moody atmosphere of the scheme.
• Amongst the large swathes of plain fabrics across the furniture and walls, I wanted to introduce a pattern across a few cushions.
• The metalwork in this space needed to be warm-toned, so I went for antique brass.
• To provide a bit of contrast, I included a palette of soft blues across the custom rug which complement the rusty red tones perfectly.
