Discover how to use spring branches - where to source them, how to condition them, which containers work best with them and where to place them in your arrangements.

From the Lesson Workbook

Using Spring Branches

In this arrangement I use fritillaries, sycamore branches and Solomon's seal.

Other spring branches with a good lifespan are sweet chestnuts in bud, pussy willow, forsythia, cherry blossom and beech from late May (Beech will wilt if used too early in the season).

The container for this arrangement is very similar to this one.

Usually I cut the side shoots of the trees off when their bud's just coming out. Make sure you only use the side shoots and aren't damaging the tree!
