With all your preparatory work complete, it’s time for arguably the most exciting part of the project - installation. A truly special moment that requires a huge amount of team effort.
With all your preparatory work complete, it's time for arguably the most exciting part of the project - installation. A truly special moment that requires a huge amount of team effort.
Think ahead and begin to plan your 'installation day', so you have something to aim for and work towards. I recommend doing this on designated days, rather than chipping away at it over time. Your design will only look right as a whole, and if the client is seeing pieces on their own, they may not understand your vision.
Installation days could add up to a week or more depending on the size of the house, and you want to give yourself plenty of time to do a really good job and address any issues that may arise.
You will likely have a team of different contractors on site, so being organised is key to ensuring the process runs smoothly. Hiring a team of movers is essential, and building up a good relationship with them will make the whole process more successful.
While much of interior design is about creativity, there is also a huge amount of logistical work involved that will require you to be a good communicator.
I would say around 25% of a project is the design work, and the other 75% is follow-up; working with the painters, electricians and suppliers to achieve your vision. There are many plates to juggle, and you need to be across everything.
