Designing for People's Second Homes
Creating holiday homes for people is one of the most interesting and fun elements of my work; it's where families go to relax and meet up with loved ones, and this is a great atmosphere to design for.
Second Homes
They are usually places of celebration and where extended families and friends come together. They aren't about the mundanities of day-to-day life, but rather gathering with people you love and spending quality time.
As a result, I approach the design of them slightly differently. I find people are open to having more fun with the design, and I always pay particular attention to dining rooms and outdoor spaces to relax in.
The Difference in Designing for Oneself
When designing for my own homes, the choices are much smaller as I already know what I like - as opposed to when working for a client, I will present them with multiple choices.

For more than three decades, Veere Grenney has shaped the landscape of international interior design with an eye for timeless elegance and a deep respect for tradition. Having begun his career under Mary Fox Linton, and later serving as a director at Colefax and Fowler, Veere went on to establish his own company in central London in 1996, one that continues to define the art of classic contemporary living.
His work has been consistently recognised at the very highest level with Veere holding a place in House and Garden’s Directory of 100 Leading Interior Designers for the past seven years, alongside being named one of Veranda’s ‘Magic Makers’ in 2013, and additionally is a proud member of Architectural Digests prestigious ‘Top 100’.
