The Garden Centre - Added Extras

During this tour of Burford Garden Centre, Arthur shares tips for caring for your bulbs and shows you different varieties of hyacinths and Dutch irises.

A discovery for Arthur in the last year has been the Dutch iris. Dutch irises are inexpensive and incredibly striking. They are very cheap bulbs and are fantastic in a bulb lasagne.

As soon as your tulips are done, you'll see them. They allow your pots to go right into May or the beginning of June.

A Beautiful Way to Protect Your Bulbs

If you have squirrels in your backyard, having a bell cloche is extremely useful. If squirrels know you have bulbs in pots, they can eat them within a weekend. The bell cloche can be purchased here.

Hyacinths

'Dark Dimension' and 'Woodstock' are quite expensive bulbs but they're perennial so if you look after them, you'll get at least five years of flowering from them. The more interesting varieties are like bluebells and are quite elegant with the stems spaced out.
