Maria shows you how to give your woven piece tassels - a flourish you could add at the end or beginning.
The final technique I will show you is how to give your woven piece tassels, a flourish you could add at the end or beginning.
I would suggest adding them at the end, as you may not know exactly how your woven piece will turn out and what colours you will end up using, and it will look much better if the tassels are cohesive with the rest of the woven piece.
You can either use one yarn or combine multiple yarns to make multi-coloured tassels.
You can have just one row of tassels or multiple rows for a super textured look.
STEP 1: Decide how long you want your tassels to be and cut the yarn to just over double this length.
STEP 2: Using your fingers, pass the tassel yarn underneath the first two warp strings.
STEP 3: Pick up the tassel yarn from between the two warp strings to form a small loop.
STEP 4: Feed the two loose ends of the tassel yarn through this loop from the back.
STEP 5: Adjust the tassel yarns so they are even and neat, then pull tight to secure the loop into a knot.
STEP 5: Continue for each pair of warp strings.
STEP 6: Once your tassels are complete, you can complete your woven piece by repeating the same 1 cm section you started with by doing a few rows underneath the tassels with the same yarn you used for your warp strings. This secures all the weaving you have done and locks it into place.
