You’re now ready to do a few final finishing touches.

From the Lesson Workbook

Tie Knots to Secure the Weft & Remove Loose Ends

Once your rag rug is removed from the loom, you're ready to do the finishing touches.

Finishing Your Rag Rug

STEP 1: Remove any loose strings on both the top and the bottom, including the initial lines of weaving you did to flatten the warp.

STEP 2: The next job is to knot all the warp strings, top and bottom. One option is to create a small fringe with the warp strings, in which case, you can knot a few strings together, in my example, four. The other option is to hide the warp strings by weaving them into your piece, and for this I recommend only knotting only two together.

STEP 3: Finally, use scissors to trim all the loose weft ends, going as close to the surface of your piece as possible.

If you need a reminder of any of these techniques, revisit lessons 8 and 9.
