Design Notes

• The serving table is a console table that has been covered in a low-pile velvet and studded with certain smaller areas hand-painted in gold.
• The wall coverings in the dining room are covered with leather panels embossed, hand painted, and gilded with flowers and fruits by Sterling Studios, who also painted the faux-coffered ceiling with its trompe-l'oeil effect.
• The use of embossed, decorated leather panels to clothe walls was highly popular in Europe throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
• Richard Taylor Designs' gilded wood and iron chandelier complements the gilded vertical wooden fillets.
• On the wall above the chimneypiece, an Ottoman portrait hangs next to carved wood wall lights of Italian baroque design from Guinevere.
• A chenille fabric with a braid edge adorns the dining chairs.
