The Importance of Accessories

My approach to decoration and architecture is not the same. In decorating I don't want things to be symmetrical. I want things to appear if they happened over many generations and years. The asymmetric aspect comes in with the furniture and the accessories. Everything is set in a way that looks as if things have just happened. I enjoy creating surface chaos with things looking slightly untidy.

I like for my rooms to reflect the traveller and something that has happened over the years. That last accessory, like loads of books and small pieces, makes a home more lived in.

Layering Accessories

I want to bring a sense of humour into some of these rooms. I love contrasting inexpensive objects with more expensive ones.

Creating a Timeless Room

Part of the timeless look is having an eclectic feature in a room, things that don't necessarily go together but they are. I love having different objects, scales, mediums and colours all carefully mixed together. There is a lot of thought that goes into everything I do. If things get moved slightly, I don't mind. As long as things have been done sympathetically, it is not an issue.

Leaving Room for Things

Whatever you do, it needs to function well. In Interior design, you need to zoom in and zoom out.
