After years of planning and months of work, you are joining me on a site visit to Oxford Gardens as the construction phase is nearing completion.

Advice for Approaching a Project During Construction

• It doesn't matter what point you are in your renovation, you still need to constantly check the plans. Issues can arise at any stage, and there are always changes and developments to stay on top of.

• Do site visits as regularly as you can so that you're able to problem solve in person.

• Site visits also enable you to see the scale and size of a space in real life, which may prompt you to change your mind about certain elements of the design for the better.

• It's important to accept that mistakes will happen, and often these errors can turn into happy surprises if you stay calm and allow them to play out. In the grand scheme of things, small mistakes often don't matter.

• You want to keep morale high on-site, and avoid creating any ill feeling if possible. A renovation project is all about teamwork, and the best results are achieved when everyone is happy and on the same page.

• It's wise to keep a close eye on the electrical plan for a room - as your plans for spaces evolve and you change your mind about placement of furniture, just check that your electrical points and lighting placements will still work.
