The Recessed Bathroom

It was a delicate balance to carve out enough space for both a bathroom and separate shower room, and once we had finalised the room sizes, it then took a lot of time to get the layout exactly right.

• After lots of playing around, I eventually decided to have an alcove bath which I love. The panelling surrounding feels really smart and sophisticated.
• It's nice to have deep drawers within a bathroom vanity so your products can stand up, rather than lying down and potentially leaking.
• Opting for wallpaper in a bathroom helps to make it feel more friendly, and like a proper room.
• I like to place the shaver socket beneath the counter of the basin - and if I can, mounted into the side of the vanity - to avoid wires trailing up the wall.
• When walking around your project when it's during construction, it can be easy to forget the thinking and decisions behind the placement of something or a decorative choice. If it looks odd, go back and check your plans before changing it, as you may have made that decision for good reason.
