The Light, Fun Children's Room
Children's rooms can be really fun spaces to design, and it was wonderful to tie in some of my own plans with my daughter's ideas.
- We made use of awkward alcoves and recesses by building in cupboards and storage. One side is 40 cm deep, and the other is 60 cm deep which provides hanging space.
- The wardrobes don't go to the ceiling, which I think works better in small rooms as it means they don't feel too towering and claustrophobic.
- Enjoy the process of designing with children - it can be a lovely thing to create a space together that you both love.
- The cupboards are painted a different colour in the inside, which is a great idea for children's bedrooms.
- We opted for a plain, inexpensive fabric for the curtains and added interest with a border.
