For the final part of the course, you will be joining Emma at one of her favourite projects; a family home in the Cotswolds. Here, she will be talking through the design process and how she applied her design principles.
I am so excited for you to join me in one of my favourite projects; a family home in the Cotswolds. It's a brilliant case study that embodies all of my design principles.
This was the second project we took on for our clients, and a really exciting one to work on as it was a complete transformation. The property was built in the 18th century, is grade II listed and had been in the family for a couple of generations. The current family were keen to sensitively modernise it in line with their own style.
Myself, the design team at Sims Hilditch, and Christian Fleming at Fleming Architects sat down with the client to create the brief to suit their busy family life, with lots of activities and fun.
We'll be focusing on the important domestic areas of the house; the kitchen and back-of-house spaces. I want to show you how we applied our design principles to this project to deliver spaces that were highly functional, as well as being beautiful to spend time in.
A brief is the foundation of every project and sets you on the right path from the outset. It is a reference point for the entire team to use throughout every stage of the process.
It helps us to understand every element of how our clients live and is our constant blueprint for the design.
Always try to look to the future while designing a home; children grow up, and needs change over time. You want to try and create something that will grow with a family and last them for many years to come.

The best adventure. I like all the courses, but my favorite are both Rita Konig interior design courses and Anna Jones. Excellent!
