Design Principle 9 - Lighting

Lighting has the potential to make or break the atmosphere in a room, so I always pay incredibly careful attention to every light source within a room.

Lighting

• Downlights can be angled to create beautifully narrow beams of light to highlight certain areas within a room for a special and intimate feel.
• Aluminium reflectors can be used in conjunction with downlights and spotlights to reduce glare.
• We always try to put all of our lighting on a dimmer system, with each type of lighting having its own circuit so that they can be controlled individually. Table lamps will be on a 5 amp socket so they can also be dimmable.
• Lighting control systems are well worth planning into your design, especially in a larger room. They can be set up to create a number of distinct moods across all of the lighting within a room at the touch of a button.
