The Brief

A detailed brief is essential for creating a functional room. It determines exactly what it is you're going to design, as well as 'the why'.

For this project, we were able to create our imaginary client and our own brief.

• A family with two young children and a dog.
• They live in Wimbledon Village, in the leafy suburbs of London, in a lovely house with a garden.
• They dream of living in the countryside and want to bring a sense of country living to their city home.
• Organisation and practicality were top priorities.
• Our design should appeal to the senses through sound, scent and touch as well as aesthetics.

Welcome to WOW!house, an annual exhibition of work by different interior designers who each take over a room and design it from scratch in their signature style.

I was honoured to be asked to design a room at the 2025 WOW!house, at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.

We had the opportunity to design the courtyard room, which was 7m x 5m, or about 23ft x 16ft. We decided to transform the open space into a series of 'back-of-house' rooms that would offer a busy family the utmost practicality in the most beautiful way.
