Part 8 - The Frame of the Chair
With the fabric stripped away, you can really begin to see and understand how your chair has been constructed. You'll also be able to see more clearly what work needs to be done.
- Depending on what you're stripping back and what you're keeping, each reupholstery project will be slightly different. This is the point where you can work out a plan of action for your own chair.
- When it comes to using the old fabric as a template to cut out your new fabric, don't follow any previous incisions that have been made to manipulate the fabric around the frame. Always cut square, and make your own incisions when you get to that part of the process.
- Anywhere the template fabric has a raw edge at the back or bottom of the chair means that it has been pulled through to the back, and you will need to do the same. You will need to cut your fabric longer than the template has been cut here to be able to pull it through.
